OUR HISTORY

Our story began in 2014 when FC St Helens was dfounded with a vision to create a community-driven football club. Since then, Windleshaw Sports Ground, now known as SMS Pro Soccer Park, has been our home. Located just a mile from the Town Centre, the ground carries rich history, once hosting rugby and cricket matches in the 19th century, including the first organised clash between St Helens RFC and Wigan RLFC in 1890 and has held international Rugby League test matches.

Over the years, we’ve worked hard to build a club that embodies ambition and community spirit. Starting in the Cheshire League, we earned promotion to the NWCFL First Division North in 2022 and are now proud to take our place in the Premier Division for the 2024-25 season.

Our home has grown with us. Built in 1834, recent upgrades, including additional lighting, a PA system, and two new seated areas and two new covered stands, reflecting our progress and commitment to providing a fantastic matchday experience. As we continue our journey, we remain focused on bringing pride and excitement to our supporters and our town.

THE FUTURE OF FC STHELENS

By 2029, we aim to complete the following

Convert our main grass pitch into a state-of-the-art all-weather artificial pitch, ensuring year-round usability.
Complete the asset transfer of Bishop Road and enhance the playing pitches to accommodate all age groups.
Establish an education centre to benefit both local and international students, providing opportunities for growth and development.
Develop modern facilities, including an upgraded clubhouse and a small-sided artificial pitch specifically designed for our disability team and junior section.
